TRIAD — Privacy Policy
Last updated: 12 July 2026. TRIAD is an AI-assisted triathlon training app.
TRIAD is built local-first: your profile, plan, sessions and history live on your device. Some optional features send specific data to a server and, from there, to an AI provider to generate a response. This policy explains exactly what is stored, what is sent, when, and to whom — and how to turn the sending off.
1. What is stored on your device
Your athlete profile (name, race, goal, experience, availability, equipment, thresholds, and any injuries/notes you enter), your generated plan and sessions, completed-session logs, readiness check-ins, coach chat and coach “memory”, and settings. This is held in the app's local storage (and, on iOS, mirrored in the app's private preferences so it survives). A backup file is created only when you tap Export, and is saved wherever you choose.
2. What is sent off your device, and when
Nothing is sent to the AI service until you explicitly enable the AI coach. When enabled, the following features transmit data to our coaching proxy and then to OpenAI to generate a response:
| Feature | What is sent | To whom |
|---|---|---|
| AI coach chat | Your message, a summary of your plan/today's sessions, goal, limiter, recent readiness and coach memory | Our proxy → OpenAI |
| Plan briefing | Your profile summary and generated plan overview (may include injuries, background, motivation) | Our proxy → OpenAI |
| Session debrief | The completed session and your logged actuals (duration, distance, RPE, notes) | Our proxy → OpenAI |
| Strava connect (optional) | An OAuth code exchanged for your recent activity summaries | Our proxy → Strava |
| Weather (optional) | Approximate coordinates for a local forecast | A public forecast API |
Health data read from Apple Health (HRV, resting HR, sleep) stays on your device and is used to compute your readiness locally; it is not sent to the AI service unless it appears in a readiness figure you discuss with the coach.
3. The AI provider
AI responses are generated by OpenAI. Data sent for a response is processed under OpenAI's API terms. We send only what a given feature needs, and we do not send your data to OpenAI for advertising. We cannot promise a third party never retains transient processing data; review OpenAI's policies if that matters to you, and use the offline coach if you prefer not to send anything.
4. Your controls
- Consent: the AI coach is off until you turn it on. You are asked before the first transmission.
- Local-only mode: turn the AI coach off in Profile at any time — the app then works fully on-device with the built-in coach.
- Delete coach data: “Clear coach chat & memory” in Profile removes your conversation and the coach's stored memory without touching your plan.
- Delete everything: “Reset everything” in Profile erases your profile, plan and history from the device.
- Export: take a full JSON backup whenever you like.
5. What we do not do
We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising or profiling beyond generating your coaching responses.
6. Medical disclaimer
TRIAD provides training guidance, not medical advice. It is not a substitute for a physician or physiotherapist. If you have pain that is sharp, worsening, or persistent, stop and seek qualified care.
7. Not affiliated with IRONMAN
“IRONMAN” and “70.3” are trademarks of their respective owner. TRIAD is an independent app and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the World Triathlon Corporation / IRONMAN.
8. Contact & changes
Questions or requests about your data: contact the developer through the app listing. If this policy changes materially, the “Last updated” date above will change and you may be asked to review the change in the app.
